“You never get too old to enjoy life,” said a 91-year-old Signature resident who traveled to Panama City Beach, Fla. earlier this year, the fourth consecutive year Signature has taken groups of residents on vacation. We celebrated Kentucky Derby Day at Pickett Care & Rehabilitation Center this month with fancy Derby hats! Our residents had a great time making them.
Picket Care and Rehabilitation Center celebrated nursing home week with a circus. We had different activities that related to a circus and ended it with the Big Top Circus on Friday.
We had games with different prizes to win. Residents enjoyed corndogs, cotton candy, and snow cones during the festivities. Two clowns even visited to spread more cheer.

More than 1,000 Signature staff members registered for the recent Spirituality LearnFEST, a virtual learning conference that encouraged participants to consider the impact of spirituality, if fully activated, in a long-term care environment.
And that number doesn’t even include the many who joined in groups, in offices, breakrooms and wherever there were TVs or computers at Signature centers across 10 states to view the live broadcast. The event featured sessions that tied spirituality to numerous aspects of long-term care and health care, from clinical care to legislative involvement and the impact of spirituality in the workplace.
We traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky to visit the Corvette Museum with three of our elders.
We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with The Rainbow Olympics. We had several games in which the residents participated, and we served cake and ice cream to everyone!
We celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday by making Lorax planting pots. Here are the finished products!
We had a Sweet Heart Bash on Friday, February 13, 2015. The employees nominated a King, Queen, and Princess from each hall, and the Elders nominated a staff King and Queen!
